Pixy 1 firmware compatibility with Pixy 2?

I’ve made a custom line tracking firmware for Pixy1, which I’m pretty happy with. I’m a bit concerned about the continued availability of the Pixy1 and interested in the performance of Pixy2, so considering to convert that module to Pixy2.

I’m fully aware of the line tracking capability of Pixy2, but I’m far from convinced that it suits our needs.
So I guess my questions can be boiled down to this:

  1. Is the Pixy 1 continued to be produced?
  2. Does the firmware for Pixy2 have the same architecture/design as for the Pixy1?
  3. Is it possible to change the imaging module of Pixy2 to one with another field of view?

Hello,
The Pixy1 has been replaced by the Pixy2 and is no longer being manufactured, although it is still being supported.

The firmware architecture for Pixy2 is a branch of the Pixy1 firmware. The serial protocol has been redesigned to make it easier to support. This is probably the most significant change with everything else being very similar.

Pixy2’s optics are fixed, and we don’t have any other options. (sorry)
